MUSEO DIOCESANO
Il Museum, inaugurated in 1993, occupies a wing of the Seminario dei Chierici and holds vestments and sacred objects coming from the cathedral and from the other churches of the diocese. The works are organised according to modern exhibition criteria and illustrate the evolution of styles and taste following a chronological path, accompanied by didactic panels. It was conceived as a dynamic museum in that the sacred furnishings are used for particular religious functions and is one of the most important museums of sacred art in Sicily. There are also some interesting sculptures like the l’Ecce Homo (mid XVIII century), attributed to Alberto Tipa, and the sarcophagus Montaperto attributed to Domenico Gagini (1485).
