CHIESA DI SAN NICOLO' REGALE
Splendid example of Norman architecture, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful monuments in Sicily from that period. To the building of Byzantine style centric layout inside a square and three apses, slightly jutting out – combines the typically Arab elements like the wall hangings with visible ashlars, the pointed blind arches, inserted multiply, which frame the openings, the central cupola (rebuilt). The construction, between 1100 and 1150, is thought to be of Benedictine religious pertinence.
Under the large terrace in front of the church there are the remains of a Roman building with rooms with frescoes and mosaic floors, dating from between III and V century A.D. in which the figure of a young deer is particularly notable.
