PIAZZA ELIMO

This is the heart of the modern town, a sort of Greek agorà, designed by the famous architect Paolo Portoghesi (1988) who, inspired by classic models, re-evokes propylaea, stoà and Greek temples in a modern and suggestive dimension. The town Council building with its high clock tower is by the same architect. Here festivals and exhibitions are held promoting local typical products like wine and oil as well as cheese, principally vastedda del Belice, a DOP cheese, made with sheep milk and much appreciated by connoisseurs and gourmets.
