CHIESA MADRE

The church has a curious, fan-shaped layout and a façade characterised by a scaffolding of pilasters, designed by Gaetano Averna, and completed in 1991 by Luigi Giocondo.
A stone with the Madonna del Piraino (XVI century),with  San Giovanni Battista e San Nicolò di Bari knelt at her feet, painted according to a Hispanic Portuguese iconography is much venerated. it is believed that the stone was miraculously discovered in the XVI century, by a woman called Beatrice whilst watching her clothes in a stream.
On the main altar is a wooden Crocefisso - Crucifix (1755) of brother Benedetto Valenza
