BAGLIO COFANO

 

Dotted around the countryside are bagli (from the Arabic bahal, courtyard), rural fortified structures, characterised by an internal courtyard. Situated in a dominating position, they had areas destined for use as seasonal accommodation for the owner, and for agricultural use.
