PALAZZO FICI
Palazzo Fici is one of the most significant examples of a high class residence of the XVIII century. The main façade on the ancient Cassaro (today Via XI Maggio), articulated by a network of flat framework, is dominated by a sumptuous doorway-balcony, richly decorated with Baroque patterns. Passing through a large entrance hall, one reaches the expansive courtyard with porticoes, around which various internal areas unravel: The scenic effect of the double loggia of the back entrance and of the portico opposite, like the wing of a theatre is wonderful. It is presumed that the Fici family, one of the most representative of the city, lived in a part of the palace in an époque before the seventeenth century reconstruction which gave it its present layout.
